God and the Political Party
God and the Political Party In the last major presidential election there emerged a notion that somehow the only vote a Christian should cast would be for the Republican Candidates. The Republican Party became the voice for the Christian Right. Ministers and Priests were caught preaching to their parishioners that God was a Republican and therefore on Election Day the choice was easy. Vote Republican and be a good little Christian. Somehow we are once again hearing that if Jesus were walking this earth and voting, he would be a Republican and in the up coming Presidential Election Jesus would vote for that candidate, no matter what he stands for, as long as he or she were Republican. This should so deeply offend every voter in this great Country. If you are of the Christian persuasion you should rise up and let the powers that be know you will not be led through this election like a sheep being led to the slaughter. Let your voice be heard and let it be heard loud! God cannot be made so small! God cannot be so limited. God is so much greater than any one political party. People have tried for time eternal to say that God is on their side. Here is the truth: God is on the side of all creation. Which ever candidate wins this election wins because they waged the most effective campaign and because they offered the most hope. Do not be afraid to look at all of the candidates. Maybe you will vote for people in each of the parties. There are many to choose from. When you get to the polls and are ready to cast your vote, let it be because you have decided to vote your conviction. Base this on your own thoughts. It is the American way. Make a choice that does not limit God. God is not easily boxed nor does God have a political persuasion. Every politician wants to win. Some politicians will tell you what they believe. This allows you to decide for yourself if you desire to vote for them. Some politician will tell you what they think you want to hear and guise it in religious fervor. Be persuaded by your own beliefs. Vote your intuition. Just vote!
